Currencies
In Settings > Währungen (Currencies) you manage the currencies available to a sales channel and choose which one serves as the base currency. The base currency is the reference point for all exchange-rate conversions shown in the list.
What the base currency controls
Once a base currency is selected, every other currency shows an Umrechnungskurs (conversion rate) relative to that base. Our system continuously updates exchange rates using data from the European Central Bank.
Changing the base currency does not convert or rewrite existing stored prices. It only changes the reference currency used for conversion, so storefront prices are displayed in the customer's selected currency relative to the new base currency.
Currency fields
When you add or edit a currency, the form contains these fields:
Name — the display name of the currency.
Code — the ISO code (for example, EUR, USD).
Präfix — the symbol or text placed before the amount.
Suffix — the symbol or text placed after the amount.
Umrechnungskurs — the conversion rate against the base currency.
Als Basiswährung festlegen? — whether this currency should become the base currency.
The list page shows columns for Name, Code, Präfix, Suffix, Umrechnungskurs, and Basis (which marks the current base currency). If no currencies exist yet, the page shows Keine Währungen gefunden.
Sales-channel scope
Currencies are managed in the context of the currently selected sales channel. Actions such as create, edit, and delete apply to that channel's currency set. Switch the sales channel in the admin header before opening Settings > Währungen if you need to work on a different channel.
Deleting a currency
You can delete currencies from the list, but the system blocks deletion of the current base currency. If you try to remove the base currency without first selecting another one, the error message reads: You must set another currency to be used as base first. Set a different currency as the base, then delete the original one.
